friends, today I am going to tell you that the Classification of Overhead Transmission Line, Classification of transmission lines: If you also want to know, then keep reading this article completely.
Classification of Overhead Transmission Line
The three constants of a transmission line are resistance (R), inductor (L) and capacitor (C), which are uniformly distributed over the entire line. Resistance and inductance are series impedance. Based on length, the transmission line is divided into three parts which are as follows.
(i) Short transmission lines
(ii) Medium transmission lines
(iii) Long transmission lines
1. Short Transmission Line
When the length of the overhead transmission line is less than 50 km, and the voltage is less than 20 kV, then it is called a short transmission line. In the study of the line’s efficiency, only the resistance and inductor are to be taken.
2.Medium Transmission Line
When the length of the overhead transmission line is 50-150 km, and the line voltage is 20 kV-100 V, it is called a medium transmission line. In this, because the length and line voltage are sufficient, the capacitance effect is taken. To calculate the capacitance effect, the line is divided into opposite capacitances. If the conductor is shunted at the side of any point on the line, the capacitance is taken at the exact moment.
3. Long Transmission Line
When the length of an overhead line is more than 150 km, and the line voltage is more than 100kV, it is called a long transmission line. In this line, the constants are treated as equally opposite, and the rigorous method is used to solve them. The order of the conductors is changed to make the potential fall in these lines the same on each conductor.
