What is a cochran boiler : Working Principle, Defination

Hello friends, today I am going to tell you What is a cochran boiler, Working Principle of cochran boiler: If you also want to know, then keep reading this article completely.

What is a cochran boiler

What is a cochran boiler- This part is called the steam space. The furnace is located at the bottom of the boiler. The top of this furnace is also semi-circular. The advantage of this type of head is that it absorbs maximum radiation heat and also prevents distraction. It is made by pressing a single denominator so that there is no direct connection on the flame and at the same time the power is also maximum. In this furnace there is a grating below which there is an ash trough in which the ash produced by the burning of fuel keeps on collecting. This furnace has two gates. There is a fire gate near the grating which is called Dhumra Nal.

This smoke tap is connected to a combustion chamber. This combustion chamber is connected to a smoke box by several horizontal smoke tubes. These horizontal tubes are mounted on two plates between the combustion chamber and the smoke box. These tubes are in large number due to which the heating surface of the water increases and the rate of vaporization increases. There is a fear of damage to these ducts if the water level is less than the requirement. Hence a soluble plug is fitted just above the combustion chamber. The smoke box is related to a chimney. From where the waste gases keep coming out of the boiler into the atmosphere.

There is also a hole in the shell around the combustion chamber, in which the fire cum bricks are kept in the internal part. The temperature of these bricks is so high that if some particles of coal reach this chamber in a non-fired state, then they are completely burnt, as well as these bricks also stop the radiation heat which goes into the atmosphere. This hole makes it easy to clean or replace the smoke ducts whenever they need to. Similarly, the Dharm box also has a hole for cleaning. But on this side fire-cum-bricks are not kept, because the temperature here is comparatively less. If necessary, a superheater can also be installed in this boiler but the superheated fraction cannot be high. This superheater is mounted in the smoke box just below the chimney. For cleaning the inside of the boiler, the entrance and the hand gate are in the proper place. Various accumulators are placed on the boiler in proper place, such as safety valve, steam valve.

The fuel is poured from the fire gate and burned on the grating. The hot liquefied gases produced by the combustion of fuel are picked up from the furnace through the smoke tap to reach the combustion chamber and the ash continues to collect in the ash pit at the bottom of the furnace. The hot gases in the combustion chamber pass through the smoke tubes to reach the smoke box. Water is filled around these tubes, which, by contact with these hot gases and the cover of the furnace, gets heated by the heat of convection and turns into steam and collects in the upper part of the shell. From where this steam is sent to the engine etc. through the barrier valve. The hot gases after heating the water cool down and go into the atmosphere through the chimney. The flue controller is fitted in the chimney, through which the exhaust of the flammable gases and the air received to the grating are controlled. Sometimes a steam nozzle is also installed in the chimney, through which steam is passed, due to which the ejected gases increase in speed and are rapidly expelled.
