Factors governing the Selection of turbine

Hello friends, today I am going to tell you Selection of Turbine, Factors governing the Selection of turbine, Classification of Turbines, selection of turbine pdf,,classification of turbines in hindi pdf. :If you also want to know, then keep reading this article completely.

Selection of Turbine

Turbine is selected on many basis, one of them is the classification of turbine. In this article we will discuss the classification of turbine. The turbines are selected on the basis of

Classification of Turbines

classified according to the following components

  1. Hydroulic action
  2. Direction of flow of water
  3. Direction of shaft
  4. Head
  5. Specific speed
  6. According to the original manufacturers name (According to the Original Manufacturing Name)
  1. Hydroulic action

this classification, turbines can be mainly divided into two classes: Impulse turbine and Reaction turbine. The jet of water coming out of the nozzle like a free jet at atmospheric pressure and this free jet of water coming out of the nozzle collides with the row of buckets on the periphery of the wheel.

The most important feature of this system is that there is no difference in the pressure energy of the water acting on the runner of the turbine at the entry and exit points of the runner, that is, the pressure energy at the entry and exit points of the runner is the same. Lives. In other words, the water moving the runner remains at atmospheric pressure.

There is no fluid work of the shell in this category of turbines. The shell only prevents the water from spreading here and there and the water is removed in the Visarjani Kulya without spreading it here and there. Doing so reduces the chances of an accident.

  1. Direction of flow of water

According to the direction of flow of water, hydraulic turbines can be classified as

(i) tangential flow turbines.

(ii) Axial flow or radius flow turbine.

(i) In a tangential flow turbine, the water strikes the runner of the turbine in the tangential direction of the wheel. The Welton turbine is a tangential flow turbine. This turbine is described in detail in the next chapter.

(ii) In axial flow or radius flow turbine, the water becomes laden or outward flow type from the circumference of the wheel. Inward Radius Flow In the turbine, water enters the runner or runner from the circumference of the wheel and flows inward in the radius direction.

The turbine can also be of mixed flow. In the turbines of this region, the water enters the runner in the radial direction and exits in the axial direction. Modern Francis turbine falls into this category.

  1. Direction of shaft

According to the configuration of the shaft in the turbine, the turbine can be classified into vertical shaft turbine or horizontal shaft turbine. In vertical shaft turbine the shaft is vertical and the runner is horizontal and in horizontal shaft turbine the shaft is horizontal and the runner is vertical.

  1. Head

turbines can also be classified according to the head on which they operate. If the top of the water ranges from 150 m to 2000 m or more, then the turbine is called a high-topped turbine. Turbine operating at a height of 30 m to 150 m, a medium top turbine and a turbine operating at a top less than 30 m, a turbine with a low head, require less water. Whereas a low-headed turbine requires less amount of water. pelton turbine over top, Francis turbine is medium head and Kaplan turbine is low head turbine.

  1. Specific speed

According to a given turbine, this speed at which this turbine can generate unit power at the top is called specific speed.according to specific speed can be classified as

    6. According to the Original Manufacturing Name

follows For example, the Weltv turbine named after the American resident Lester Annelle Weltv (1829–1904) Johnwell Turgo Girard, the Englishman James Wishve Francis (1815–1892) Francis Turbines, German resident Dr. Victor Kaplan (1870-1934) named after Kaplan turbine, Thomson turbine etc.
