Hello friends, in today’s article I am going to tell you what is UPS?, the types of UPS, Explanation of online and offline UPS: If you also want to know, then keep reading this article completely. so let’s start
What is UPS?
UPS (Uninterruptible Power Supply) – If the power is suddenly turned off in high-tech equipment such as computers, process control devices, communication systems, etc., there can be data loss. Therefore, in this type of equipment, there can be massive losses due to the constraint created in the supply for a moment. To solve this problem, an uninterruptible power supply was created which is known as UPS.
DC battery is mainly used in UPS. When supply (AC mains) is available, at that time this AC is converted into DC and stored in the battery. For the output of UPS, this battery behaves like an input. If during this time the AC mains supply is stopped, then, in that case, the supply is fulfilled by the power stored in the battery, so that even when the AC mains is turned off, the output continues to be available.
Block Diagram of UPS
The block diagram of UPS is shown in the figure. According to the picture, UPS is mainly classified into four stages.
According to the block diagram, first, the AC supply is converted into DC with the help of a rectifier. This DC supply is given to a battery bank. Where these batteries are charged as well as the output of the rectifier is given to an inverter, the circuit. Inverter again converts DC into AC. The output of the inverter is fed to the output stage through a static switching network. The use of the output stage provides the output of the required voltage by removing the fault of the AC supply. Types of UPS:-
1.Online UPS
2.Off-Line UPS
Offline UPS
This type of UPS Output through the main AC in normal condition. source (AC main) but the main AC. After it is turned off, the output is obtained from the inverter. Main AC Switching from to inverter is done by an electrical device, however, partial interference occurs during this switching.
Main AC In the on state, the battery is charged by the battery charger. The battery charger is a rectifier. In addition to the rectifier, it has the facility of auto cut so that after the battery is fully charged, the input from auto cut stops.
The electronic switches S, and S, are controlled by the main AC sensor and switch control unit when the main AC is switched off. is approaching then the vessels of switches S, and 5, respectively are contacted. and are on 2. Whose symbol’s input remains open and UPS. Output Main AC is connected to. Main AC The sensor and switch control unit operates the switch after it is turned off. Hence, the poles of switches S1 and S2 are at 1 and 2′ respectively. In this state, the input of the inverter is connected to the battery and the UPS output of the inverter row after a partial interruption to the AC. begins to be received. Main AC After coming, the switches will operate again. Therefore, the poles of the switch will be on 1 and 2 respectively and the output of UPS will again go to the main AC. will join.

On-Line UPS
Off-line UPS A few milliseconds of interference occurs during switching on, but some devices have negligible interference in the AC. is needed. AC of negligible interference To get online UPS is used. In this type of UPS, the output is always obtained from the symbol.
battery charger main ac from AC Receives and charges the battery. The battery charger is a rectifier that also has an auto-cut circuit by which the battery input is cut off when the charging is complete. Symbol, by receiving the DC energy through the battery, the AC converts to.
AC from the output of the symbol. is obtained. At the output, the meter shows the load current and potential, while the rescue circuit avoids short circuits and overload. Since the output is always received from the inverter and no switching takes place, we have to get the AC with negligible interference. is received.
Online UPS But due to the battery and symbol being always active, the maintenance of battery and symbol is more and their life is less.
Off-Line UPS Overall cost of, Online UPS Apart from this, but there is partial interference due to switching. Proper UPS as per requirement. is selected.
