What Are the Mechanical Properties of Metals?

Hello friends, today I am going to tell you The mechanical properties of materials | What Are the mechanical properties of metals, Explain mechanical properties of substances, explain the mechanical properties of metals:If you also want to know, then keep reading this article completely.

The mechanical properties of materials | mechanical properties of metals

1. Ductility – Ductility is that property of the material, due to which sufficient deformation can be possible without breakage, that is, due to this property of the material, thin wires of the material can be drawn. Example- gold, silver, copper.

2. Tenacity – The maximum opposing force that can be produced to break a substance under tension is called the strength of that material, that is, this property is measured by the maximum stress intensity produced under stress.

3. Toughness – Due to this property, the material resists shocks or bumps before breaking. Therefore, in those parts of the structure and machine which are subjected to shocks and vibrations, the property of rigidity is essential.

4. Stiffness – Durability is that property of the material due to which the material opposes the deflection due to external force. It is essential to have this quality in sprigs.

5. Malleability – is the property of a material due to which the material can be converted into thin sheets without cracking by beating it with a hammer. For example, brass, gold, silver etc.

6. Hardness- It is that property of the material due to which the material resists to rubbing, cutting, abrasion and scraping.

7. Brittleness – This property of a material is opposite to tensile, that is, due to this property, due to external force or injury, the material breaks into pieces without any defect. Due to this property, the material does not have the slightest plasticity and breaks into pieces at the slightest deformation.

8. Flexibility – This is the property of the material due to which the material can be bent into the shape of any measure without breaking.

9. Elasticity – This is the property of matter due to which each body resists the change in its shape, but as soon as the external forces that change the shape are removed. The body returns to its original shape, that is, elasticity is that property of the material, due to which the deformation caused by the stress or external force is completely eliminated when the stress or external force is removed.

10. Plasticity – Due to this property, by applying force on the material, there is a permanent change in its shape without breaking, that is, when the force is removed, the substance does not return to its initial state. This property also increases with increase in temperature.
