What is Elasticity and Plasticity, Difference Between elasticity and plasticity

Hello friends, today I am going to tell you What is Elasticity , What is elastic limit, What is Plasticity, What is Elasticity and Plasticity, Difference Between elasticity and plasticityIf you also want to know, then keep reading this article completely.

What is Elasticity

When an external force is applied on an object, the shape or form or both of the object changes due to this force, hence this force is called deforming force. When a deforming force is applied to a substance, the substance opposes the change in its shape or form due to the intermolecular and intermolecular forces acting between the atoms and molecules of the substance. This property due to which a substance resists change in its shape or form when a deforming force is applied, then this property is called elasticity of that material.

Due to this property, when the deforming force is removed, the material regains its former shape or form, that is, the property of the substance of an object due to which the object resists the change in shape or form due to the deforming force, is called elasticity and Such objects are called elastic goods.

The elasticity of any object depends on the nature of the substance of that object. Such objects, from which they assume their full shape or form when the deforming force is removed, are called perfectly elastic objects such as quartz. Such objects from which on removing the deforming force they do not return to their full shape or form and deform forever, then those objects are called completely plastic. For example, piece of wax, wet soil etc.

In reality there are no completely elastic or wholly plastic objects available in nature. But up to a certain value of deforming force, objects can be considered to be perfectly elastic.

What is elastic limit

The ultimate value or maximum value of stress intensity at which the object remains elastic is called elastic limit. The value of the elastic limit is different for each material. Generally, the elastic limit is also called the proportional limit. If an external force is applied on the object more than the elastic limit, then on removing the external force, the object cannot come back to its original shape completely, some deformation must remain in it.

What is Plasticity

The property of a metal due to which its shape changes due to external force on the metal, but after removing the force, it is not able to come back to its initial state, that is, there is a permanent change in the shape of the metal, this property is plasticity or plasticity. It is called

In this way, to bring about a change in the shape of the metal, pressure or heat or both are applied on it. The ductility of any substance or metal or by applying more force on it comes from being stretched outside its elastic limit. When this happens, the atomic bond between the atoms breaks down.

Example– Plastic goods, wrought iron, steel, etc., become pliable on heating. Lead, clay, etc. are soluble substances.
