What is Guarding?
Guarding means security guard. It is located below the line. The guarding is permanently grounded. It protects the line. (a) P.V.C. Guarding

(a)’D’Clamps Type (b) Direct Shackle Type
(b) Lacing Guarding
Lacing guarding is divided into the following parts
Two, three or four wires are used for (1) Carpet guarding (2) Cardinal type (3) Box type Lacing guarding. This guarding is used for 33 Kv or more power lines.
Benefits of Guarding
(1) It protects the line.
(2) Being earth-connected protects the equipment from lightning.
