friends, today I am going to tell you that the Difference Between Radial and Ringmain Distribution System, what is Radial system, what is Ringmain Distribution System: If you also want to know, then keep reading this article completely.
(1) Radial system
It is a simple and economical system, which works as an open path system. In this, the distributor moves through the electric center or sub-stations like a simple conductor. Hence it is called a radial system. In this system, the distributor is fed by the nutrient at one end. Thus, the current is likely to flow in only one direction in the distributor under this system.
This system is often used for small-scale individual supply systems, generating electricity at low voltage from the generating stations close to the electric load.
Due to the following drawbacks, the use of this system is minimal
(i) In this system, the distributor stays more close to the feed end. Due to the availability of proper voltage on this part of the second distributor, the nearest consumer is benefited more.
(ii) Due to the voltage drop, the consumers near the other far end of the distributor receive electrical power at low voltage, and due to the change in electric load, the voltage fluctuation is high.
(iii) In case of open path fault, electricity is not received by the single end fed distributor to the consumers after the fault point.
(iv) Consumers have to depend on only one electrical supply. When it is cut off, the electrical work of the consumers is stopped.
(v) Consumers do not get electricity even during repair and maintenance.
(vi) Due to all the above reasons, the reliability of this system is low. This is the reason. Nowadays, this system is less adopted.
(2) Ring System
It is a closed-circuit system. In this, the distributor is connected as a closed circuit. Hence it is called a ring system. Ring distributor for each service mains acts like two parallel distributors. In this system, service mains are likely to receive supply from both sides, as a result of repair and maintenance of distributor and even in defective condition consumers get supply.
The ring system has the following advantages over the above radial system
(i) The ring distributor acts as two parallel distributors. Thus the electric load current is split into two parts. As a result, a relatively less conducting material is required in the system. (ii) For each serviceman, the ring distributor acts as two parallel distributors. Hence the reliability of this system is relatively high.
(iii) There is no voltage fluctuation in this system.
